You will fill out and submit our estimate checklist. When you contact us for help with a book project, we will ask you to fill out and submit our estimate checklist. This will enable us to get a clear idea of what services you need.
You will send us an editing sample. If you request our editing services, you will send us about five pages of your book so we can do a short editing sample to ensure that the level of editing is comfortable for you.
We will send you a written estimate for your book project. Once the level of editing has been established, and your checklist answers have been analyzed and discussed, we will send you a written estimate via e-mail (as an attachment in Adobe PDF format) based on knowledge of the project known at that time. If, during the production process, the scope of your book project changes from your original checklist answers, you may request another estimate.
You will approve the estimate. Once you have agreed to the terms, you will sign, date, and fax the estimate to us. If a down payment is required, it must be received before the project can begin.
You will submit all text and graphics. Once your manuscript is received and analyzed, any special concerns will be discussed, such as quality of art or missing files. Illustration and scanning services are available; however, if you wish to submit your own electronic artwork, we have set up art guidelines for you to follow. If electronic files are too large for an e-mail attachment, we will send specific instructions about how to electronically transfer the files to us.
We will create interior page design samples. If you request our interior page design services, it is helpful if you have an idea of what you want your book to look like; otherwise, we can design it for you. Interior page design samples will be created and sent to you. You must approve these samples before production can begin. Please view our page design samples.
We will send you interior page proofs. Once you have approved the interior page design, your data will be imported into that design. Once all pages have been composed, you will receive interior proofs via e-mail (as an attachment in Adobe PDF format). If the PDF file is too large for an e-mail attachment, we will set up a password-protected FTP site for file transfer. We will continue with the proof process until you have approved the interior pages.
We will create cover design samples. If you request our cover design services, cover design samples will be created and sent to you based on your concepts or our suggestions. Please view our cover design samples.
We will send you cover design proofs. Once you have approved the cover design, you will receive cover design proofs via e-mail (as an attachment in Adobe PDF format). If the PDF file is too large for an e-mail attachment, we will set up a password-protected FTP site for file transfer. We will continue with the proof process until you have approved the cover pages.
You will approve the final pages. Once you have approved all interior and cover pages, you will sign, date, and fax the approval form to us.
You will select a printing method and vendor. If you wish, we will help you select a printing vendor. We can also guide you through the process of self-publishing your book. However, any outside vendor costs must be paid directly to the vendor by you.
We will send your final electronic files to the selected printing vendor. We will work directly with the selected printing vendor to properly prepare and send the electronic files to match their specific criteria, including preparation of prepress forms and review of proofs.
That's it! Whether you choose to print one or several books, we will provide the final files you need.
